The BACKER ROD is a compressible material, non absorbent, that is inserted into a joint to control the sealant’s depth to create a support that permits for the correct amount of sealer to be used. It also isolates the  the negative effects of variations of temperatures as well as the humidity inside the joints itself.

COMPOSITION AND MATERIALS:

The backer rod is a foam material of polyethylene of low density with closed cells and a skin-like outer texture. It is highly flexible and compressible for easy installation. It is available in a wide range of diameters.

COMPATIBILITY:

The BACKER ROD is compatible with butyl compounds, polysulfide, acrylic, polyurethane, silicone, and with the majority of the compounds of cold sealers. The backer rod It is also chemically inert and resistant to oil, gasoline and most solvents. This material does not stain or adhere to sealant materials it also doesn’t oozes.

BENEFITS

It allows proper positioning, plus it saves sealant. It works like temporal joint sealer, not letting the joints get full.

USES

As a support material for pavement joints, floors, repairs and precast concrete; in joints joints of prefabricated panels, window frames, expansion joints, etc.
